Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory (1961)
Starring Barbara Lass and Carl Schell
Directed by Paolo Heusch
Genre: Horror?
Rating: 8

Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory starts off with a peppy beach-party style song entitled "Ghoul in the School", which is sadly cut off way too soon (because I was really enjoying myself here). A new teacher arrives at a school for troubled females as they are having physical education class (their outfits are actually not skimpy). One girl makes a naughty joke and another pretends to faint (her name is Mary). That night two girls (one named Priscilla) look out the window of their dorm and see Mary sneak out of the infirmary; they also see one of their female teachers hiding in the bushes. Mary goes into the woods to meet her lover, who she is blackmailing to get her out of the school with love letters he wrote her. She leaves him, and as she is walking back through the woods, a half-man half-wolf starts chasing her, pining her down as she makes sexually suggestive noises. He rakes his claws doen her neck, killing her and dumping her body in the river. Throughout the movie Priscilla carries out a sort of investigation about Mary's death, and both her ex-lover and the new teacher are suspected of murder--the teacher because he knows about werewolves, and the ex because of the blackmail situation. The werewolf ends up being the headmaster of the school.

I liked this film! The film is in black and white, but the quality is not the best. The entire thing is redubbed from Italian to English (at least my version). The set is cool, and the girls are pretty, so what more do you really want?! Actually, I wouldn't mind more gore. There are a few deaths, but they are tame Nothing about it is particularly haunting or scary (I mean it's all around B grade) but it's kind of hilarious and I found it damn enjoyable. It's certainly fun enough for a quiet night at home.
